Burn lawyer, burn survivor
Richard Webster J.D., M.A.
This web site is dedicated to serving the needs of burn survivors. I am a burn survivor, lawyer, and former rehabilitation counselor who represents burn survivors and their families. Through the experience of my own lawsuit, I was inspired to pursue a career where I can represent burn survivors and advocate for their rights, and in the process perhaps help to prevent other burn injuries from happening.
As a burn lawyer, I can offer a personal perspective on burn injuries. I was burned over 63% of my body in a flash fire in 1992. Since then I’ve fought back both physically and mentally, leading to my career as a burn lawyer. My educational background as a rehabilitation counselor has prepared me to be an effective advocate for a burn survivor in and out of the courtroom. I understand the burn injury in its legal, physical, emotional and mental aspects. Recently, I published an article about the impact of litigation on the burn survivor in Trial Magazine.
Representing people that have been burned remains an extremely personal endeavor. My conviction to change the negligent behavior or defective product responsible for the injury, fuels my passion to practice law in this area. Our law firm has two goals in representing a client: compensation for a catastrophic injury; and changing the behavior or product responsible for the burn to prevent another similar accident. I have consulted with burn victims nationwide, and represented them in lawsuits in several different states. We use outstanding local counsel as part of our team for jurisdictions outside of Iowa and Illinois.
This web site contains pages related to my personal story. I encourage you to explore and contact me with any questions, legal or personal. There is no charge for an initial consultation. |
